I, John Milton Townsend of Dennis Township, Cape May County and State of
New Jersey being of Sound mind, memory and understanding for which
blessings, I thank God, do make and publish this my last Will and
Testament in manner following. That is to Say It is my will and I do order
that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied,
as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Kate B. Townsend, all my
property both real and personal wheresoever situate and whatever the Same
may be to her, her heirs and assigns forever. I do by these presents give
my said wife Kate B. Townsend full power and authority to grant, alien,
bargain, sell and convey, and assure all the lands that I may die seized
of to any person or persons and their heirs forever in fee Simple, by all
and every such lawful ways and means in the law as she my said wife Kate
B. Townsend, or her counsel learned in the law shall seem fit or necessary
And I do hereby constitute and appoint my Said Wife Kate B. Townsend Sole
executrix without security of this my last Will and testament. Signed
published and declared by the Said John Milton Townsend to be his last
will in the presence of us who were present at the same time and
subscribed our names as Witnesses in the presence of the testator this
the twelfth day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand eight
hundred and Seventy eight. Witnesses J. Milton Townsend, James Holmes,
Platt Brower, Thomas Townsend.
