1665 or thereabouts emigrated to America, landing at New York and settling
at Jamaica, Long Island, where in 1683 he was one of the body of men to
establish at Jamaica, the first Presbyterian church in America. In the
society of that church he held the office of trustee for a number of
years. Three of his descendants were in the Revolutionary war, one of
them being a major stationed at a fort on the Hudson river.
