Henry Reeves
   bm
   mf ____ ___ __ Hannah Doughty Furness _
   n. NJGF2967 GJB76
In 1775, Archibald Campbell bought a 9-acre plot north
of the Manamuskin in Port Elizabeth for 550 pounds gold
or silver. Check the records! This much cash could buy
hundreds of acres in this era, so the land he bought
must have been improved significantly when he bought
it. According to Hartman maps, the same 9-acre plot was
sold by Henry Van Hook (glass family) and William
Lawrence to Henry Reeves and his wife "Hannah Doughty
Furness" in 1775. Henry Reeves owned the land where the
Union Glassworks was built by his brother Abraham
Reeves and his son-in-law, Randall Marshall.
A 2.3-acre segment of this land, adjacent to Parks' Red
House, later passed to David Kimsey, whose involvement
in the glass industry was outlined by Jeff Thompson
      recently on this list.
Glenn further remarks that Henry Reeves is his direct nGgrandfather.
There is more at the message.
      NJGF 8676 GJB76
Note to Ron Cook: The Oglee house stands on the 7-acre
lot that Henry Reeves sold to Archibald Campbell for a
fortune. The deed from the 1770s is recorded in Book
62 or 67 or something. Randall Marshall's store was
apparently between this house and the creek.

Gentry; Middle of road S 87 degrees 10 minutes E, 53 rods to beginning
68.72 acres that George Hanthorn and wife conveyed to Hannah Doughty
      Ack: Joel Fithian. Commissioner
      1858 Sep 24 Satisfied, P. L. Kain (?), Clerk
   n. That's it! It is Hannah, wife of John who bought the land 11 months
before she died. The mortgage was paid in full several years early--7
days after Hannah Garrison Doughty died. Find Hannah's estate
administration and you will find payments to Hanthorn!
But this has the same two objections: Hannah was married and Hannah
lived, it seemed, in Millville. 2000 Jan 18 GJB76.
