      War. His will is dated 10-22-1824, and is on file in the Gloucester Co.,
      NJ Court House in Woodbury, NJ. His will mentions three Grandchildren,
      Richard Giverson, (Giberson?), Samuel Bowen, and John Sooy. John Sooy has
      not been placed yet, he must be the son of Samuel Sooy Jr. and Susan
      Somers, or Rebecca Sooy and Nicholas Sooy Jr., (Sooy married a Sooy).
      Giverson may be Giberson. Source 34 lists "Giberson".

      defense dated 1955 September 12.

      Militia, 1776 June, and served one month; enlisted at Trenton as Private,
      Captain George Payne's Company, Colonel Somers' Third Regiment, Gloucester
      County Militia, July 1776, and served one month; was in skirmish on Staten

      Among the early settlers of Washington was Yose Sooy [his name is usually
      rendered as 'Joose', or 'Joost'], a German, who settled on the East bank
      of the Atsion river and cleared up a farm. Yose (Joseph) Sooy had three
      sons:
